The Panthers injury report is still pretty long. The team got a couple of players back at practice today, though.
According to Jourdan Rodrigue at the Athletic, rookies Brian Burns and Dennis Daley both participated on Thursday after sitting out yesterday. Second-round pick Greg Little remains sidelined by a concussion.
Getting Burns and Daley back is critical. Burns has been Carolina’s second-best pass rusher this season behind Mario Addison and Daley has performed better than Little or Daryl Williams at left tackle.
Cam Newton may not be practicing, but he is making progress. He has been working with trainers off to the side in view of the media this week. Coach Ron Rivera has already named Kyle Allen the starter for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Considering Newton still needs time to get back into rhythm with his receivers, we may not see him in the lineup for a couple more weeks.
