Panthers injury update: G Pat Elflein ruled out after exiting vs. Saints

The Carolina Panthers have had to do some patchwork along their offensive line to start the season. Last week, it was starting right guard John Miller. Today, it’s starting left guard Pat Elflein.

Elflein has been officially ruled out of the Week 2 contest against the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury. He left the game with 13:56 remaining in the second quarter as the Panthers were driving into the red zone.

The sixth-year veteran was initially ruled as doubtful upon being taken out of action. He was also listed throughout this past week’s injury report with a bothersome hip.

As was the case in Week 1, Dennis Daley will be the next man up for the unit. He fills in for Elflein at left guard with third-round rookie Brady Christensen likely on deck as the next, next man up in the rotation.

Veteran lineman Trent Scott had been designated as an inactive prior to the game, giving way to a possible run for Christensen ahead.
