Panthers injury report: Still no Cam Newton, Kawann Short on Thursday

The injury report for the Carolina Panthers, the Week 3 opponent for the Arizona Cardinals, barely changed. That will be a concern for the 0-2 Panthers.

Five players sat out again, although tight end Greg Olsen, who was limited on Wednesday with a back injury, was a full participant on Thursday.

Here is who sat out on Thursday, all for at least the second day in a row:

  • S Rashaan Gauldin (groin)
  • T Brandon Greene (neck)
  • LB Bruce Irvin (hamstring)
  • QB Cam Newton (foot)
  • DL Kawann Short (shoulder)

It seems unlikely that Newton will be able to play, meaning it is highly likely the Cardinals will face Kyle Allen as the Panthers’ starter. Short’s absence also will be a blow to the Carolina defense, as he is one of the most talented interior defenders in the league.
