The Panthers got off to a brutal start against the 49ers. After falling behind 7-0 and going three-and-out on their first possession, they needed someone to step up and make a play. As he has so many times, linebacker Luke Kuechly answered the call. Watch as he reads Jimmy Garoppolo’s eyes, then cuts in front of George Kittle for an interception. Easy pickings.
That was the seventh pick of the season thrown by Garoppolo and the 18th career interception for Kuechly, who will go down as one of the best ball-hawking linebackers of all time.
Despite the great field position Kuechly gave them, the Panthers couldn’t do much with it. Joey Slye had to come in and hit a 41-yard field goal. The score is now 7-3.
