Gerald McCoy has made a nice living for himself chasing opposing quarterbacks, so when he was asked to chime in on the Carson Wentz vs. Dak Prescott debate, the former Buccaneers defensive tackle was the perfect candidate to address the issue head-on.
With both players being drafted in 2016, playing in the same division and tossed into the debate of who should be the highest-paid, Wentz and Prescott will always be linked for the rest of their careers. McCoy was a guest on Undisputed with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe when he was asked to pick the better team in 2019: Dallas or Philadelphia?
McCoy went with the Eagles, mainly because of his affinity for his former teammate, DeSean Jackson, saying that the league’s top deep threat would put the Eagles over the top. McCoy then referred to Wentz being healthy this season as another factor.
At that point, Bayless pressed McCoy on his statement, asking if he felt Wentz was better than Prescott. McCoy again pulled no punches, stating that before Wentz tore his ACL, he “was set to be the MVP of the league.” McCoy spoke of Wentz needing to regain confidence in his knee, and that he couldn’t be great while focused on the injury.
In 2018, while recovering from his torn ACL and playing through a broken back, Wentz passed for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 102.2 passer rating, while completing 69% of his passes.
