Signing Gerald McCoy as late as the Panthers did could turn out to be one of the most consequential moves in free agency this year.
McCoy had played for the division-rival Buccaneers since 2010, earning six trips to the Pro Bowl and one All-Pro nod. He is recognized as one of the top defenders in the league. Although McCoy did not make the NFL Top 100 list in 2018 (neither did any other Tampa Bay player), this year he came in at No. 75.
The list, compiled based on leaguewide polling of players, is airing on NFL Network.
Cam Newton is the other Panthers player who’s made the list so far — he was ranked at No. 87.
