Panthers DE Brian Burns shares photoshop of potential new number

Brian Burns has been wearing No. 53 since the Panthers drafted him a couple of years ago. It sounds like he might want a change. Thanks to the NFL’s expanded rules about which numbers certain skill positions can wear he has a lot more options.

Burns could be mulling a move to No. 9, based on this photoshop he shared on his Instagram page.

Looks good on him. No. 9 was most recently worn by former kicker Graham Gano.

Burns is entering his third year in the league. In 31 games, he’s totaled 16.5 sacks, 37 quarterback hits, 13 tackles for a loss and four forced fumbles. At the moment, he is still listed as No. 53 on the team website.

Another player who might change numbers is wide receiver D.J. Moore, who has hinted he wants to switch to No. 2. However, that belongs to quarterback Tommy Stevens.
