Panthers cut three players from practice squad

With the final week of the regular season now upon us, the Carolina Panthers have begun a bit of housecleaning. (No, not that type of housecleaning most of you have been crying for.)

On Tuesday, the team released three practice squad members in kicker Blake Haubeil, guard Patrick Omameh and quarterback Jordan Ta’amu.

Haubeil was signed by the Panthers on Dec. 29, Omameh on Nov. 11 and Ta’amu on Dec. 30 following the positive COVID-19 test from backup P.J. Walker. The cuts now leave Carolina’s practice squad with 14 active members.

Walker, additionally, remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list with seven fellow Panthers including defensive end Haason Reddick, defensive tackles Phil Hoskins and Daviyon Nixon, cornerback Jaycee Horn, tight end Tommy Tremble and running back Reggie Bonnafon. Their respective statuses for Sunday’s season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, obviously, remains up in the air.

The team also declared their weekly practice squad protections in Bonnafon, tight end Stephen Sullivan and cornerback Madre Harper.
