Panthers currently rank No. 16 in total 2019 NFL draft value

The 2019 NFL draft is now only 10 days away. The Carolina Panthers are going to need a very strong class if they’re going to stay afloat in the NFC South, which arguably got even tougher this offseason with Bruce Arians joining the bottom-dwelling Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The team has also lost a number of veterans this year. Julius Peppers and Ryan Kalil retired. Mike Adams, Captain Munnerlyn, Thomas Davis and Devin Funchess are all no longer with the team, as well. Replacing them with quality young players in the draft is the best way to produce a competitive roster in 2019.

As of right now, Carolina ranks No. 16 in overall draft value, according to Tankathon. The total value of the Panthers’ seven picks is projected at 1,833.2 using Jimmy Johnson’s system. That’s less than half of the team that has the most: the Arizona Cardinals, who hold the first pick and 4,013.8 in total value.

The team with the next most value is the Oakland Raiders. They got an extra 2019 first-round pick in the trade for Khalil Mack. Their picks are valued at 3,890.9. At the other end of the spectrum, the Chicago Bears have the least amount of value at 225.2.

Within the division, Tampa has the most value, ranking No. 7 according to the calculation. The Atlanta Falcons rank No. 14 and the New Orleans Saints come in second to last.
