The Panthers have claimed wide receiver Donte Moncrief off waivers from the Steelers, finally filling the open 53rd spot on their roster.
Moncrief (6-foot-2, 216 pounds) came into the NFL as a third-round pick by the Colts in 2014. He spent four seasons in Indy, totaling 152 catches, 1,875 yards and 18 touchdowns in 53 games. Moncrief played in Jacksonville in 2018, followed by a brief stop in Pittsburgh.
Drops have been an issue for Moncrief throughout his career. He’s had eight over the last two seasons alone. If he can get that under control, he might be a valuable contributor for the Panthers down the stretch.
