Panthers’ Bryce Young Makes First Comments Addressing Frank Reich’s Firing

Panthers quarterback Bryce Young spoke out about coach Frank Reich’s firing for the first time on Wednesday.

Young stayed relatively neutral when it came to questions about whether Reich’s firing was premature or needed. He did, however, admit that it wasn’t just Reich’s fault for the Panthers’ 1–10 record when he was asked if the coach let the offense down.

“We all take ownership, especially offensively,” Young said. “It’s all of us. We all look in the mirror. There’s all things we could do better. We all wanted to do better. It’s a collective unit, there’s no finger-pointing from players, coaches, nothing. We all could have been better. We have to improve.”

As the 2023 No. 1 pick, Young has had a lot of pressure on him this season. Panthers owner David Tepper reiterated on Wednesday that despite Reich’s firing, the team remains “totally confident” in the rookie quarterback.

Through 10 games, Young has thrown for 1,877 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has a 32.3 overall quarterback rating. The Panthers will face the Buccaneers on Sunday for the team’s first game without Reich.
