Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo have been handed the leadership reins at Penrith with the two named co-captains for the club's NRL premiership push in 2021.
The pair were among the standout stars for the Panthers in their run to last year's grand final and will replace last year's skipper James Tamou, who has joined Wests Tigers.
As halfback, 23-year-old Cleary calls the shots on the field while long-serving second-rower Yeo, 26, has long been considered a leader at the club after seven NRL seasons.
"When I watched Isaah and Nathan during the first few weeks of this pre-season, they were organically leading those around them," Panthers coach Ivan Cleary said.
"It was immediately apparent what was best for our team. It felt like those two had already been appointed. It was just that natural.
"As first-time captains, I think it's beneficial they can share the burden of extra responsibilities that come with the role.
"Of course neither of them are the finished product but this opportunity will allow them to continue growing as leaders. I know they will do an excellent job for our club."
Yeo is off-contract at the end of this season but the club is confident of re-signing the NSW Origin forward within the next fortnight.
