According to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN, the Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with former Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown. He is the first first-round pick in this class to agree to terms. Schefter says the deal is worth $23.621 million over four years and is fully guaranteed.
Brown was chosen by Carolina at No. 7 overall in the 2020 NFL draft. He was the first interior defensive lineman taken. In the predraft season, he was usually ranked as the best in this class at his position – although some analysts had South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw higher.
Because he was a first-rounder, the Panthers can control where Brown plays for the next five years – that is, if they choose to pick up his fifth-year option.
Not all rookies can start right away, but we’re projecting that Brown will be lining up next to Kawann Short Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
