Panthers agree to terms with CB Troy Hill

The Carolina Panthers and defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero needed some sort of insurance at the cornerback position. So, they went out and got an old friend.

As announced on Sunday night, the team has agreed to terms with cornerback Troy Hill. Hill, a former member of the Los Angeles Rams, has already played under Evero as well as current Panthers secondary/cornerbacks coach Jonathan Cooley.

An undrafted free agent out of the University of Oregon, the Ventura, Calif. native began his tenure with the Rams in 2016—when he played 12 games during his second pro season. It wouldn’t be until a year after, in 2017, when Evero joined Hill and the secondary as Los Angeles’ safeties coach.

Over his eight NFL campaigns, Hill has recorded 334 total tackles and eight interceptions. He led the league yards on interception returns and defensive touchdowns in 2020, where two of his picks wound up in the end zone.

After a brief stop with the Cleveland Browns in 2021, Hill returned to Los Angeles for the 2022 season. He started in each of his 12 games under Cooley, amassing 67 tackles and an interception.
