Panthers activate G John Miller, place CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver III on IR

The Carolina Panthers have to be feeling pretty good about their offensive right about now. (Boy, who ever thought anyone would be saying that in 2021?)

Anyway, amidst the unit playing its best football all season, the team announced on Saturday that right guard John Miller has been officially activated. Miller, who was designated to return earlier this week, is fresh off his three-week stint on the injured reserve.

In addition to the ankle injury that’s kept him out since Week 8, Miller missed the season opener after testing positive for COVID-19. Whether the seventh-year lineman reclaims his starting spot for the Week 11 matchup with the Washington Football Team is still, however, up in the air.

“He’s working on getting his wind back, getting himself back into playing shape.” head coach Matt Rhule said of Miller’s status during his Friday presser. “It’s only been one week for him of practicing.”

If Miller isn’t on the field to kick off Sunday’s tilt, Trent Scott is expected to take over those duties at right guard once again.

To make room for Miller, the Panthers placed cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III on the injured reserve with a toe issue. He was listed as questionable for the game after a limited practice on Friday’s injury report.
