Panthers activate 2 offensive linemen from reserve/COVID-19 list

The Carolina Panthers have activated center Tyler Larsen and guard Michael Schofield from their COVID-19/reserve list. Larsen and Schofield had spent the last several weeks on it, sharing that space with cornerback Rasul Douglas, who was activated on Monday.

This is obviously great news for the players and their health. It also helps the team out in a critical area: depth in the trenches. Both sides of the line of scrimmage have been hit hard by injuries and the pandemic this season.

Larsen has played 60 games in his career and started 18. He’s the primary backup behind starting center Matt Paradis.

This is Schofield’s first year with the Panthers after spending the last few seasons with offensive line coach Pat Meyer and left tackle Russell Okung on the Chargers.

Schofield started the first two games of the year but was replaced at left guard by Chris Reed, who also has spent time on the COVID list. Him and Dennis Daley are now the backup guards behind Reed and John Miller.
