Panthers 2019 training camp: 3 players placed on active PUP list

In addition to a few roster moves, the Panthers have placed three players on the active physically unable to perform list just prior to the start of 2019 training camp. General manager Marty Hurney says wide receiver Torrey Smith, linebacker Jermaine Carter and linebacker Brandon Chubb will all begin camp on active PUP with knee injuries.

This is good news mostly by omission.

Center Matt Paradis and offensive tackle Daryl Williams were both candidates to start the year on PUP, but they have apparently recovered well enough from last season’s injuries to start the year fresh. Williams tore his right MCL Week 1 and Paradis broke his fibula playing with the Broncos.

Hurney told reporters that Williams will compete at both the left tackle and left guard positions, as expected.

Left guard and left tackle are two of the more important position battles that will be taking place at this year’s camp.
