Panthers 2019 minicamp: News, highlights from the third day of practice

The Carolina Panthers are all finished with their 2019 mandatory minicamp program.

Here’s a few notes and highlights from the media on the last day of practice.

The bubble is getting closer to completion

Every day, the practice bubble is taking shape and getting closer to completion. Apparently, the whole thing has to be sewn together. Here’s what it looks like right now.

David Newton at ESPN says the plan is for the bubble to be blown up as soon as tomorrow.

Owner David Tepper has said the facility should be ready to go by the time the 2019 preseason begins.

Cam Newton continues to make progress

QB1 is also looking readier for the season with each new practice. Newton unveiled a tighter throwing motion on Tuesday and extended his range Wednesday. Here’s a pass to wide receiver Curtis Samuel.

Newton is still throwing in individual drills only.

As for Samuel, he has been the standout player on offense throughout minicamp according to most accounts.

Ian Thomas, Jermaine Carter still out

Second-year tight end Ian Thomas is still being limited. Today he was working on a stationary bike.

Linebacker Jermaine Carter was absent again. He’s being held out due to knee soreness.

Wide receiver Torrey Smith and rookie linebacker/defensive end Christian Miller have also been limited at minicamp.

Ron Rivera’s message to the team

With today’s practice in the books, the Panthers are officially on summer break. Here’s what coach Rivera had to say to the team about returning ready to roll.
