Panic by Lauren Oliver - review

In the dead-beat town of Carp, graduating seniors play a legendary game. A game that knows all of your fears and uses them against you.

Panic.

Lauren Oliver has been a favourite of mine ever since I read Before I Fall (an amazing read for any teenager, which explores the meaning of life and death). She manages to create such realistic characters and descriptive imagery that you’ll be hooked as soon as you start reading it. The tournament, the mysterious judges, and how far some of the characters are willing to go to change their lives seriously makes for a great book, and I couldn’t think of another writer who could have pulled it off so well.

Panic cover

Heather thinks she’s in love. And just when she’s about to say it out loud, she sees that the guy of her dreams has been cheating on her. Heather didn’t plan on entering panic, but the emotional shock pushes her. Then the game pushes her to the limits. An exciting book that will keep you on your toes and have you questioning who you want to win. Full of betrayal and lies; will anyone survive Panic with what they want?
