Panic as 71-year-old woman stuck in mud at Crosby Marina

A 71-year-old woman was rescued after becoming stuck in mud at Crosby Marina .

Emergency services - including the coastguard, major incident vans and ambulances - were sent to the scene by the lakeside at 12 noon today.

On arrival, they found the 71-year-old woman stuck in mud up to her knees.

She was extracted by the Crosby coastguard team.

One witness said: "We noticed coastguard and ambulances in the distance.

"It looked like some kind of serious incident, we couldn't tell what it was."

Emergency services remained at the scene until 1.30pm.

It is not known whether she required medical treatment afterwards but she is not believed to be serious injured.
