The track I'll be opening my next DJ set with
Something from the new album by Ekoplekz
At least that's how I started my last set. It'll either be a beatless track or some some soundbwoy-murdering early dancehall tune … It depends on what mood I'm in and what the gig is like, I guess!
The track I always play to rescue a dancefloor
Loefah: Ruffage
Of course, I never actually need to rescue a dancefloor, it's pure fire from start to finish. Ahem.
The track that currently gets the most rewinds
Objekt: Cactus
Watch out for this one – he's an amazing producer who's come through this year. And Getting Me Down by Blawan never fails to get a reaction either.
The track I wish I'd signed to my label
The Criminal Minds: Baptised By Dub
Although I think I'm about 20 years too late to the party on that one.
The track I'd play at my auntie's wedding
Rustie: Ultra Thizz
Children, parents, grandparents – absolutely everyone would be popping off to that one, guaranteed. I'm really looking forward to Rustie's new album.
The track I'd play at sunset in ibiza
Sunn O))): It Took The Night To Believe
OK, so I'm being a bit sarcastic, but a drone metal soundtrack to a dramatic Ibiza sunset could be pretty epic, right? It's either that or Energy 52 by Café Del Mar.
The ideal festival track
Breach: Fatherless
It's been played out so much over the last 18 months or more, but it's one of those tunes I wouldn't hesitate to play again in the right circumstances.
The best track by my favourite new artist
Helix: Stacks Riddim
He's a great new producer from the US. This track's coming out soon on a new Glasgow-based label called All Caps.
The track that should have been a crossover hit
Girl Unit: Wut
That should've been at least a top 40 single, in my humble opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those Night Slugs guys were writing beats for A-list pop stars soon.
The track I want played at my funeral
Coki: All Of A Sudden
That might be appropriate if I died of a heart attack or got hit by a car. Otherwise, playing the Countdown clock music before the curtains close at a cremation would be a good one.
