JAIPUR: PHED minister Mahesh Joshi said a decision on the rates applicable for drinking water connections for multi-storey buildings in Jaipur city would be taken on the advice of a technical committee. Joshi was replying to the calling attention motion brought by Kalicharan Saraf during Zero Hour.

Earlier, in his written statement the minister told the House that in Jaipur city, drinking water connections are given at the rate of Rs 42 per square feet in multi-storey buildings of height more than 15 metres.

He informed all that based on the assessment of the expenditure incurred on the infrastructure of drinking water system in Jagatpura, Mahal Road and Pratapnagar areas, water connections are being given at the rate of Rs 25 per square feet. Joshi said in the additional areas of Jagatpura, Mahal Road and Pratapnagar, the CIE and CREDAI have given a memorandum that the rate of Rs 42 per square feet for multi-storey is practical.

Therefore, the rate of Rs 42 per square feet is being examined by a technical committee. He clarified that after the decision of the committee, the department would issue a revised circular for Jaipur city.
