The Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in The Netherlands was supposed to launch an exhibition on the history of pandemics in March 2020, but ironically, it was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Over the past four months, and like many other museums, the Boerhaave Science Museum, located in the southern city of Leiden, had to close its doors due to the spread of the COVID-19 disease around the world. The pandemic has killed over 6,000 people in The Netherlands.
However, the museum has finally managed to open in mid-June and held the exhibition dubbed "Contagious!" which sheds light on the history of contagious diseases from plague to COVID-19.
During the four-month postponement period, the exhibition's curators have updated the references to include the COVID-19, and added videos, photographs, and the daily lexicon that has been used in the past few months.
