A person at another Renfrewshire high school has tested positive for Covid-19, it has been confirmed this evening.
Renfrewshire Council has said public health officials have today been working to trace all those who had been in close contact with the infected person at Gryffe High School.
Parents and carers of pupils identified have been contacted directly and advised they and the rest of their household should self-isolate for 14 days.
All others have been told to attend the Houston school as normal tomorrow.
A spokesperson for Renfrewshire Council said: “We can confirm that Covid-19 NHS Test and Protect contact tracing is today being carried out at Gryffe High School.
“All parents and carers with a child at the school have been contacted via text message with a letter from the NHS to make them aware.
“NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are the lead agency and advise there is currently no evidence of transmission within the school itself.
“Robust control measures are in place and the school is safe to remain open as normal.”
Gryffe High is the fifth secondary school to be impacted with Covid-19 since they reopened last month. Other schools affected include Paisley Grammar, Castlehead High and Gleniffer High in Paisley and Johnstone High School.
Parents are being urged to remain vigilant of the symptoms of coronavirus and have been told not to send their children to school if either they, or a member of their household, has a temperature or fever, a new continuous cough or a loss of/change in sense of smell or taste.
Everyone in the house should self-isolate and the person with symptoms should be tested as soon as possible. If they test positive, the whole household must quarantine for 14 days.
