Anil Pande and Parmesha Zade were crowned Champion of Champions in the rifle and pistol categories respectively of the shooting competition in Khasdar Krida Mahotsav which concluded at the Taluka Krida Sankul, Ahuja Nagar, on Thursday.
Top four shooters of peep rifle and air pistol events qualify for the Champion of Champions knockout semifinal tie from where the two finalists fight it out to become the best performer of the competition.
"Though the Champion of Champions is not an official event, all the participants look forward to be among the top four and playing the knockout round. This event is played in a very friendly atmosphere where spectators are allowed to cheer for the participants. Men and women play together in the event. Based on the points earned by a respective shooter, top four finishers are identified," said technical head of the shooting competition Harshal Zade. The team of Zade from SPI shooting Academy, Wardhaman Nagar, handled the technical part of the tournament.
While Pande edged out Aditya Jagtap 10-9 in the summit clash of the rifle event, Parmesha - the only woman among the four semifinalists - outclassed Priyank Padhye by six points to be named as the Champion of Champions of pistol section.
Both Pande and Parmesha were awarded Rs11,000 cash prize and a trophy. The best four rifle shooting finishers include winner of the open category Aditya Jagtap (397 points), runner-up Anil Pande (394), Neusy Jain (391) and Arohi Kutemate (389).
The top four finishers of air pistol event include, open women champion Parmesha Zade (350), open men's winner Anant Jagtap (344), U-19 boys champion Priyank Padhye (316) and U-17 boys gold medalist Veer Choudhary (301).
Jagtap Father-Son Duo Shoots To Glory
The father-son duo of Anant Jagtap and Aditya achieved a unique feat by taking home a gold medal each in the open category of both the events on offer on the concluding day of the competition on Thursday.
While Anant dominated the air pistol shooting event by winning the open men's gold medal, his son Aditya earned the maximum of 397 points to finish on top of the table in the peep rifle competition.
