Panama in drive to attract UK visitors following long-awaited red list move

Panama says it is delighted that the UK Government has removed the country from its red list and is ready to welcome back UK visitors with open arms.

The nation, along with much of South and Central America, has been on the red list for several months, preventing most UK visitors from travelling to and from the country.

Now, fully-vaccinated UK travellers from Panama only have to fill in a pre-departure online form and take a Covid test on Day 2 of their return home.

Panama’s Minister of Tourism Ivan Eskildsen said: "We are delighted that the UK has recognised the progress we have made in tackling Covid and we can’t wait to welcome UK visitors to Panama. Our doors are wide open.”

The country has announced its new country tourism brand “ Live for More ” to underline its commitment to welcoming travellers.

The tourism minister added: “The launch of this new brand is a pivotal step in attracting quality travellers that aspire to make a difference, serving as a catalyst to improve the quality of life of local communities, while conserving and protecting our natural and cultural resources."

Fernando Fondevila, PROMTUR Panama’s chief executive, was looking forward to welcoming UK visitors. He said: “We’re incredibly proud to be sharing our new brand platform which truly captures the essence of Panama’s offerings as an immersive, inclusive and enriching destination.

“It embodies the vigour and inspiration we wish travellers to find in Panama, through enriching experiences that connect them with our culture, our history and our people, making a lasting impact that lives within them long after their visit.”
