Palworld 1.0 patch notes: Sunreach, new Pals, missions, combat changes, and more

Palworld 1.0 has finally arrived, bringing a massive expansion of content and sweeping gameplay improvements after two years of early access.

The full release introduces the floating region of Sunreach, the World Tree storyline, 72 new Pals, revamped main missions, combat and Partner Skill overhauls, new weapons, base-building additions, multiplayer upgrades, and extensive balance changes. Here’s everything you need to know from the Palworld 1.0 patch notes, which were initially outlined in a 27-page update that was revised to fit Steam.

Sunreach, World Tree, and new areas

Sunreach is a floating archipelago suspended above Palpagos by Paldium energy. The new region features exclusive environments, civilizations, tower bosses, rare ores, and new Pals that can’t be found elsewhere.

You can also finally explore the World Tree in Palworld, which concludes the game’s central mystery and serves as the setting for the story’s biggest challenges.

Other world additions include Ancient Ruins with exploration puzzles and schematic rewards, Watchtowers that reveal surrounding maps and unlock fast travel, expanded enemy sea bases, redesigned Wildlife Sanctuaries, and more.

72 new Pals, mechanics, and skills

Palworld 1.0 adds 72 new Pals, including 47 brand-new Pals and 25 Pal variants. The update also introduces new Pal mechanics: Awakening and Mutation.

You can collect Radiant Gems from the World Tree to awaken Pals and unlock hidden power. Meanwhile, breeding now has a chance to produce mutated Pals with higher stats and exclusive passive skills. Several new cakes also improve breeding outcomes, including higher mutation rates, extra eggs, stronger stats, and improved passive inheritance.

Over 200 Partner Skills have been redesigned with stronger synergies and clearer effects, including detection abilities for collectibles, elemental resistance bonuses, team damage buffs, and base work efficiency improvements. Stacking identical Partner Skills has also been limited, encouraging more diverse team compositions.

The update introduces numerous passive abilities, like Lightfooted (increases jump count while riding this Pal), Reload Master (increases the player’s reload speed), and Ranch Master (provides +2 Ranch Work Suitability). New World Tree Passive Skills offer extremely powerful bonuses with meaningful drawbacks.

Palworld 1.0 patch has also added new animations, big improvements to riding controls, work suitability levels, and capture bonus requirements.

Main missions rework and story flow

The game’s progression has been significantly reorganized. Instead of disconnected objectives, exploration, tower bosses, Sunreach, and the World Tree now connect through a more structured storyline.

Additional content includes story-driven sub-missions, new NPCs, collectible journals expanding Palworld‘s lore. One notable improvement is that some missions can now display multiple destination markers at once

Combat changes

Combat receives one of the biggest overhauls in the Palworld 1.0 update. Player movement has been redesigned to feel faster and more responsive, allowing you to dash while aiming, attack during dashes, reload without interrupting dodge actions, and maintain better control while rolling. These improvements make both exploration and combat noticeably smoother.

Nearly every Pal Active Skill has been rebalanced. Holy Burst has been adjusted, other high-tier elemental skills have been strengthened, overall Pal damage has increased, and several previously underused abilities have become more practical. Existing Pals have also gained new attacks, giving players more flexibility when assembling teams.

Tower Boss encounters have likewise been revamped with redesigned towers, new attack patterns, updated mechanics, and shorter five-minute battles that better fit the game’s pacing. Additional combat improvements include manual attack commands for party Pals, smarter wild Pal AI, improved Arena battles, and the introduction of the new Arena Legend rank.

Wing Pack, new weapons, and equipment

Exploration expands significantly with the new Wing Pack, which allows players to glide freely without relying on a flying Pal. Resource gathering also becomes more efficient thanks to the Plasma Multicutter, while the introduction of Soralite and Paloxite ores, Ancient Civilization Relics, and Nutrient consumables expands crafting and progression.

Palworld 1.0 update also introduces 13 new weapons, including the Mechanical Bow, Combat SMG, Prototype Shotgun, Heavy Assault Rifle, Tactical Grenade Launcher, Laser Sword, Beam Scatter, Drone Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Beam Launcher, Primitive Sword, Metal Bat, and Enhanced Lily’s Spear. Players can now equip up to six weapons at once by crafting the Extra Weapon Holster.

Additional equipment includes the Ancient armor series, boss-inspired helmets, 44 new accessories with unique effects, Disposable Implants that grant stronger passive abilities, and a new consumable item called “Nutrient” that temporarily prevents hunger from decreasing when used on a Pal or yourself.

Multiplayer features

Multiplayer receives several long-requested QoL improvements. Dedicated servers now support optional in-game voice chat, while guilds gain expanded roles, customizable permissions, improved security, and role-based access to shared structures.

The in-game chat has been enhanced with better moderation tools and anti-impersonation measures, server joining has become more reliable, and optional Discord integration makes inviting friends much easier for Steam and Mac players.

Base and building

Base building has received a substantial expansion in the Palworld 1.0 update with the addition of the Aquatic Construction Kit, allowing you to build along shorelines and at sea. Numerous decorative options, including faux greenery, new furniture, and ancient civilization building pieces, greatly increase creative freedom when designing bases.

Pocketpair has also improved Work Pal behavior by making hauling, storage, and task management more efficient. The crafting interface now includes search functions and category filters for easier navigation, while new utility buildings such as the Ancient Material Synthesizer and High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor help automate resource production.

Raid system overhaul

The raid system has been completely redesigned into a wave-based defense mode. Instead of surviving a single attack, players now face multiple enemy waves before earning rewards, making base layout and defensive planning much more important.

Enemy factions now vary depending on the region where a base is located, while raid difficulty automatically scales according to the strength of deployed Work Pals. Defense structures no longer consume ammunition, and players who prefer to avoid combat can now pay a new Negotiator NPC to cancel incoming raids using gold.

Gameplay balance changes

Palworld 1.0 includes extensive balance adjustments across nearly every progression system. Lower-level Pals now level faster, capture rates have been increased, treasure chests reward substantially more gold, and crafting costs have been rebalanced to better match player progression.

Accessories are now crafted using schematics instead of dropping directly, while shops, expedition rewards, technology unlocks, research progression, and the Medal Merchant have all been updated. Enemy placements and high-level content have also been adjusted to better suit the new level 80 cap and create a smoother progression curve.

There are also numerous UI and UX improvements, enhanced graphics and audio, performance optimizations, and a slew of bug fixes. For the complete list of changes, check out the official Palworld 1.0 patch notes.
