Pals lay flowers and candle at scene as motorbike victim in horror multi-vehicle Skerries crash named

The victim of a horror multi-vehicle crash in north county Dublin on Tuesday has been named.

Alan Rice, who was in his 60s and originally from Sandyford, died when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with two other cars on the R127 near Milverton in Skerries.

His body was removed from the scene to the mortuary in Connolly Hospital.

The two drivers and one other passenger involved in the horror smash were rushed to Beaumont Hospital.

Friends and family of Alan placed flowers and candles at the scene of the crash today with one pal telling Dublin Live that the victim was part of the Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club.

Alan had an interest in bikes from an early age and was also an avid fresh water fisher who loved the waters and enjoyed sailing and cruising.

Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club paid tribute to Alan saying: "It is with great sadness that I bring the news that club member and former committee member Alan Rice was involved in a fatal accident yesterday on his motorcycle.

"Alan was a former committee member who served with distinction as Treasurer and events organiser.

"He was a warm and friendly gentleman and he was great company and always ready to help anyone who needed it.

"I and many others will remember many motorcycle trips away with him. He was a great man for camping even when it was a wee bit on the cold side.

"Memories of Alan will stay with me forever as he was an easy man to travel and be with.

"I am very sure that anyone who knew Alan would agree that he was great company to be with.

"I'm also very sure that many will feel as I do that the world has lost a wonderful and very kind man.

"I helped Alan out with advice on him buying two small scrambler bikes for his grandson. I can't bear to think of the pain and grief that little boy and the rest of the family are going through now.

"RIP Alan you were a decent and an honorable man who will be missed by many in the DMTC and the wider community."

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Any road users who were travelling on the R127 between 4pm and 5pm today and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01 802 0510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
