Pals and family of murdered Kilmarnock mum and daughter raise incredible £26k as pair laid to rest

Devastated friends and family of a mother and daughter brutally killed in Kilmarnock have raised more than £26,000 as the tragic pair were laid to rest.

Allana King had initially set out to raise just £1,000 in support of Emma Robertson Coupland, 39, and her daughter, Nicole Anderson, 24, following their deaths in the Ayrshire town a month ago.

Emma's crazed former husband Steven Robertson knifed her outside of her work at Crosshouse Hospital around 7.45pm before going to his step-daughter's work on Portland Street and killing her 20 minutes later on February 4.

Robertson later died in a car crash.

People across Scotland were touched by the tragedy.

Yesterday more than 100 people turned out at funerals held for the mum and daughter at Riccarton Cemetery.

Donations to the fundraising drive have continued to roll in reaching an incredible £26,565 at the time of writing.

Anna-Marie Milligan wrote: "So cruelly taken..."

Stacey Clannachan wrote: "RIP Emma and Nicole truly heartbreaking! We are thinking of your family and friends at this difficult time."

Shell Bren wrote: "Watched Nicole achieve her Level 3 as a Childcare Practitioner and had many laughs completing reviews, she always bantered back an absolute diamond of a girl, so tragic and sad for her and her Mum "

Allana had written urging people to support the drive.

She wrote: "As you will all have read in the papers and the news we tragically lost Emma and Nicole over the weekend leaving three young girls without a mum and sister.

"This is also left the three girls to pay for not only one funeral but two. I have decided to set up a go fund me page to help try and ease the financial stress of worrying about paying for there funerals even if it’s just a pound each every little helps.

"Everyone it’s absolutely devastated and heartbroken over there deaths they were the most funny loving bubbly people I have ever known and never had a day where they weren’t smiling."

Traffic was at a standstill yesterday on the roads surrounding Riccarton Cemetery as a grieving community came out in force to pay tribute to the much loved pair.

Police and stewards were drafted in to help manage the flow of traffic and to make sure proceedings went smoothly.

Some tearful mourners dressed in black clutched flowers; a number were dressed in bright pink and purple — two of Emma and Nicole's favourite colours.

Two black hearses took the mother and daughter on their final journey to the cemetery yards away from the Bellfield Interchange.

A lone piper played Highland Cathedral as the two coffins made the short trip to the grave side with family and friends packing out the vast cemetery despite blustery conditions.
