Paloma Faith says she is a “bit in love” with the twisted character she plays in a Batman prequel series.
In her first major acting role, the singer plays psychotic villainess Bet Sykes in forthcoming DC Comics show Pennyworth.
The TV series will focus on the early years of Bruce Wayne’s long-serving butler Alfred, and is being filmed at the Warner Bros studios in Leavesden.
Faith, 37, said the role offered a refreshing change from being a mother to her two-year-old child with long-term partner Leyman Lahcine.
At the launch of Mollie’s Motel and Diner in Oxfordshire, she told the Standard: “The show is darker than what you might expect from a DC Comics show. Expect it to be weird, twisted and very watchable.
“I’m a bit in love with my new twisted character as she makes a nice change from having to be lovely all the time at home with motherhood!
“I really enjoy being a horrible person at work because I have to be extra nice at home for my child and partner.
“It’s a six-month shoot so it is a big commitment. But I am also writing my next album too, so I haven’t stopped with my music.”
Mollie’s is the brainchild of Nick Jones, founder and chief executive of Soho House, and is the first in a series of openings across the UK inspired by the classic Fifties American diner. Declan Donnelly, Ali Astall, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Bacon, Ronni Ancona, Dylan Hartley and Jason Plato were among guests at the opening who ate chicken bites with BBQ sauce, mac’n’cheese, prawn cocktail, Dirty Burgers, aubergine and quinoa salad, rotisserie chicken and crinkle-cut chips.
Mollie’s Mule, Aperol Spritz and Margarita cocktails were served, while DJ Tequila Mockingbird played a set, and the Mollie’s Brass Band took to the stage to perform. Cod sandwiches, avocado and egg and dirty bacon and egg baps were brought out as midnight snacks.
