Palnackie residents join in the community scarecrow competition craze

Palnackie has became the latest Galloway community to populate its streets with tattie bogles.

Castle Douglas and Gatehouse have already put on weird and wonderful displays of scarecrows.

Now residents of the River Urr port have staged their own competition for who could create the best straw-filled characters.

Kate Kerr and Charles Cloy from Dalbeattie Rotary Club came out to do the judging – despite the pouring rain.

Winners were Lexie (under-10); Jack and Wallace (11-16) and Jennifer Lawrence (adult).

The winners all received a £10 voucher to spend in Palnackie Community Shop.

The competition was part of a community event supported by Awards for All.
