Palnackie Primary pupils create time capsule of life during coronavirus

Many years from now, future pupils at Palnackie Primary will be able to learn all about the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to classes who lived through it.

Face masks, hand sanitiser and lateral flow tests are just some of the items youngsters buried in the school garden to encapsulate what the past 18 months has been like.

Before the summer break, pupils brought in important keepsakes they wanted to pass on to future pupils, which would help them learn about 2021.

Pupil, Lacey, 7, said: “People in the future have to know what we went through here in case things are different in the future. Who knows what the future will be like when it’s dug up?”

Pupils wrote a letter and created an inventory of the items within, as well as posting a class photo of the 2021/22 pupils.

The time capsule was made by parent, Sam Paterson, and inscribed with Palnackie Primary 2021.
