Palmerstown woman distraught after waking up to find car a crumpled wreck after being damaged overnight

A west Dublin woman was distraught after she woke up this morning to find her car had been severely damaged overnight.

Images of the car show the boot crumpled and a rear light smashed while the car has been pushed forward into a lamppost, bending the front registration plate.

The car's owner, Marie Moylan, from Palmerstown, shared the pictures on a neighbourhood Facebook group this morning and urged whoever caused the damage to contact her.

She said: "I need my car for work I'm devastated. I went out to the car last night at about 2am for my charger and it was fine.

"My neighbour text me at half eight this morning to tell me she'd seen it like this so [the damage] happened between them hours."

Marie told Dublin Live she does not yet know how much it will cost to repair all the damage but is expecting an estimate on Monday.

She asked any neighbours who may have CCTV cameras that could have captured how the damage was caused to contact her.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live they are investigating the incident.
