Palindrome Week! It’s the last one of this century

stock.adobe.com

For 10 days (which started Sept. 10), there’s little treat in store for the US and just a few other countries, and it will not happen again for nearly 100 years.

It’s Palindrome Week, the only week – well, 10 days – in the year when each day’s date can be read the same backward and forward.

Palindrome Week is unique to the few countries, such as the US, that write dates in the month-day-year format (9-10-19).

Our friends up north and across the pond are out of luck.

Every year since 2011 has had 10 consecutive Palindrome Days, but this is the last Palindrome Week of the century – the next one will take place in the year 2111. So next time you have to write down the date, write it a little more slowly and take in the rarity of this nifty little phenomenon.
