MUMBAI: Sena MP from Palghar Rajendra Gavit late Friday met CM Eknath Shinde along with MLA Srinivas Wanga, MLC Ravindra Phatak and former corporators from Palghar district. While there was speculation that Gavit too had joined the Shinde faction, Gavit clarified he had not jumped ship. Many corporators and elected representatives from local bodies joined the Shinde camp on Friday night. Corporators from Ratnagiri's Dapoli and Mangad extended support to the Shinde faction.
Gavit said his meeting with Shinde was just a courtesy call. "MMRDA's roads and Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana roads in my constituency have to be rolled out. Many villages are not connected by roads. A courtesy meeting was held with CM Shinde in this regard. I have not joined Shinde group. Since Shinde is CM, representatives of any party can meet him," Gavit said.
