The Palestinian Embassy in Egypt announced Friday that the body of Palestinian Fatah official Osama Abu Al-Atta arrived in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.

Atta had passed away in a hospital in Cairo, revealed the embassy.

It said it had coordinated repatriation efforts with the relevant Egyptian authorities.

He will be buried in Gaza at his family’s request.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had ordered the repatriation, which was followed up by Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki.

Diab al-Louh, the Palestinian ambassador to Egypt, followed up on the logistic procedures and the necessary security approvals in cooperation with relevant Egyptian authorities. He extended his gratitude to concerned Egyptian parties for their assistance.

The ambassador also offered condolences to the Atta family on behalf of the embassy and its staff.
