Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh called on citizens to immediately receive the coronavirus vaccine by heading to various inoculation centers throughout the Palestinian territories.

Over 70 centers and large amounts of vaccines are available to the people, he added during a cabinet meeting.

Authorities launched on Monday a campaign to vaccinate school children between the ages of 16 and 18, he added. The campaign will cover all schools and universities until all faculty and staff are vaccinated.

The ministries of education and health had on Sunday said the drive to inoculate 255,000 students in the West Bank and Gaza with their first Pfizer jab needs two weeks to be completed.

They revealed that up to 98 percent of teachers and more than 99 percent of the administrative staff have received the vaccine.

Three people died of coronavirus in Palestine in the last 24 hours, while 2,411 new cases were registered, and 558 people recovered from the virus, said Health Minister Mai al-Kaila.

Gaza recorded 1,354 infections in the past 24 hours.

Authorities have confirmed 366,707 coronavirus cases, 345,804 recoveries and 3,940 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
