A 42-year-old woman died after crashing her vehicle into the rear of a merging flatbed trailer Thursday evening on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near Schaumburg.
She was driving in the westbound lanes at Roselle Road when the trailer began to merge from the shoulder into traffic, Illinois State Police said in a statement.
The woman struck the rear of the flatbed about 7:40 p.m. and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, state police said.
She was identified as Angelica M. Vargas by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
Four lanes of traffic were closed until 8:10 p.m. for an investigation, state police said.
