A teenage boy died days after crashing his dirt bike in northwest suburban Palatine.
The 16-year-old was pronounced dead about 3 p.m. April 20 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
On April 18, the teen was riding his dirt bike about 1:50 p.m. when he left the road in the 300 block of North Lytle Drive and crashed into a tree, Palatine police said.
He was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with critical injuries, police said. He was later airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital.
Autopsy results released Friday confirmed he died of injuries sustained in the crash and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Palatine.
