A delegation of politicians and business leaders from Queensland has flown out of the sunshine state for a week-long trade tour of Asia.

The trip is headed up by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who on Saturday said the jaunt is designed to boost Queensland's Energy and Jobs Plan.

The tour will take in Japan, South Korea and Singapore, markets Ms Palaszczuk said are crucial to the state's growth.

"To secure jobs for the future, we'll make the case for investment in our emerging vanadium mining, processing and manufacturing industries as well as our hydrogen industry," she said.

"This is about securing investments to mine minerals, process minerals and make batteries in North Queensland and securing new investments in our emerging renewable hydrogen industry in places like Central Queensland."

The premier said she wants to see a significant boost to Queensland's renewable energy sector, and will push the stability of supply chains in the state, which she said are now more important than ever.

The hope is to increase business with regional neighbours, with exports between Australia and Japan and South Korea reaching more than $46 billion in the 12 months to April.

The mayors of Townsville and Gladstone will accompany Ms Palaszczuk, with Resources Minister Scott Stewart joining the premier for the South Korean leg.

The plan in Seoul is to increase Korean investment in Queensland's expensive new power project, CopperString, which was allocated another $1 billion in the latest state budget.

Steven Miles will be acting premier for the duration of the trade mission.
