Succinct, straight to the point, but why no investigation?
Buckingham Palace finally pulled its head out of the sand - after nearly two days - to accept it needs to get its act together.
They’ll have been delighted Piers Morgan’s sudden exit from Good Morning Britain, soon afterwards, took the heat out of the questions surrounding that 61-word statement.
But in all honesty it did the job for them.
It addressed the biggest bombshell of race - albeit with that corporate, meaningless cliché all big companies reach for, claiming they take the racism “very seriously”.

And the “recollections may vary” qualification suggests we may never really get to the truth about the identity of the Royal who remarked on the colour of baby Archie’s skin.
But why no formal investigation? Shouldn’t we know?
Especially when the remaining family members under suspicion are patrons of charities and love to lecture us about our conduct.
And especially with the Palace so keen to launch a probe over those “bullying allegations” last week.
All that said, the House of Windsor needs to heal.
After the mud-slinging and the grenade that finally went off on Sunday night, it needs to pick up the pieces in private.
Like any family, there will be bruised egos, wounded pride, residual fury and decisions made in anger behind the scenes that could take years to come back from.
But like families they are back to the presence to the outside world that everything is rosy.
To be fair, the one thing the Palace do supremely well is denial.
