Palace refuses to say whether Meghan Markle will appear in public again

The Palace has refused to say whether Meghan Markle will take part in future royal engagements in the UK.

A royal source said they would not comment when asked whether both Prince Harry and Meghan would conduct official duties.

The news emerged after a source was asked whether the Sussexes would take part in further royal engagements in the UK.

The contact replied 'yes' but refused to confirm whether both Harry and Meghan would be involved.

Many believe this could mean Meghan will not return to the UK.

Meghan and Harry announced their plan to step down as senior royals last week.

They plan to split their time between the UK and Canada and are determined to become financially independent.

Their announcement came as a shock to Buckingham Palace, which pledged that a solution would be found within 'days, not weeks'.

The news rocked the royal family, with the Queen holding crisis talks at her Sandringham estate at the start of the week.

The pair intend to keep Frogmore as their family home in the UK as part of their decision to step down as senior royals.

They also plan to reimburse the public for the extensive renovations which were carried out on the property before they moved in.

In a statement released by the Queen today, she said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home."

Palace officials also told the Mirror that the pair will cover the rent and bills on the property.
