Palace makes awkward blunder with Diana's sisters after Archie's christening

From the moment they welcomed Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor into their family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made sure that Diana's memory is being honoured.

This was made evident in the statement issued by the palace announcing the tot's birth, which mentioned the Princess of Wales' family .

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news."

Fast-forward two months, and once again Harry and Meghan made sure his mum was remembered, putting Diana's sisters at the heart of the christening group shot.

This time, unfortunately, the palace made a bit of an awkward blunder.

When releasing the official photographs on the official 'Royal Family' Twitter page, Buckingham Palace said Lady Sarah was standing next to Doria and Lady Jane was standing next to the Duke of Cambridge.

In fact, it was the other way round.

While the mistake has since been corrected, social media users were quick to spot it - and even royal commentator Victoria Arbiter pointed it out. Oops.

The mistake was also replicated by Clarence House in their announcement.

Despite the gaffe, the decision to have Diana's family present has been widely praised.
