Palace 'disappointed' Prince Harry 'usurped' William and Kate's visit with podcast

Palace insiders were apparently disappointed with Prince Harry for 'usurping' his brother's visit to Wolverhampton by recording a controversial podcast.

Kate Middleton and Prince William visited a youth centre in the city on Thursday to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

However, royal insiders reportedly felt it was a 'shame' that media attention was distracted by Prince Harry's claims about suffering from 'genetic pain'.

The Duke of Sussex told the Armchair Expert Podcast that he was trying to 'break the cycle' of pain from his childhood.

A royal source told The Times : "It was such a lovely day for the Cambridges. It is a shame that it got usurped by what Harry had to say.

“Nobody is shocked any more. It is more: ‘Here we go again.’ But he should be told that these grievances should be aired in the privacy of your own home.

"Don’t do it publicly in a podcast. Get on with your life.”

Speaking on the podcast, Prince Harry said he wants to "break the cycle" of the "pain and suffering" of his upbringing with his own children.

He told host Dax Shepard: "When it comes to parenting, if I've experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I'm going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don't pass it on, basically."

"It's a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway so we as parents should be doing the most we can to try and say 'you know what, that happened to me, I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen to you'."

Harry, who is expecting a daughter with wife Meghan and is already father to son Archie, aged two, compared his life to "a mixture between The Truman Show and being in a zoo".

In an apparent criticism of his own father and even the Queen indirectly, Harry said he had endured "some form of pain or suffering" because of his own dad's experiences growing up.

The latest comments from Harry come after he gave a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey that caused a sensation at the Palace.

In the interview Harry alighted on his troubled relationship with Charles, and said his father and brother William were "trapped" in the Royal Family.

He also said he feels "really let down" by his father, who "stopped taking my calls" after the Sussexes left the UK for Canada, and that the family had "cut him off financially".
