Pakistani security forces conducted twin raids on Wednesday targeting militant hideouts in the country's volatile northwest region bordering Afghanistan, resulting in the elimination of six militants, according to a statement released by the military.
The first raid took place in Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where five militants were killed. The military did not disclose specific details about the slain insurgents but mentioned that they were responsible for various previous attacks on security forces.
In the second raid, conducted in a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban in North Waziristan district, another militant was neutralized. The statement did not provide additional information regarding the identity of the deceased individuals.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat militant groups in the region, particularly targeting the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a separate but closely allied group of the Afghan Taliban. The TTP has reportedly gained confidence following the Taliban's resurgence in Afghanistan in 2021.
