A PAKISTANI boxer has reportedly disappeared in Glasgow after the Commonwealth Games, amid separate reports that several Ugandan boxers are also missing.
Several newspapers and news websites in Pakistan are reporting that officials from the Pakistan Boxing Federation have confirmed that the teenage athlete, Qudratullah, was nowhere to be found when the team gathered to leave following the conclusion of the games.
The 2026 edition of the event, which saw 11 days of sporting action at venues across Glasgow, came to a close on Sunday night.
It comes after Ugandan media have separately reported that four of the country’s boxers are also missing.
NBS Sports, a Ugandan sports website, have named the athletes as Angel Katushabe, Nuhu Batte, Ibrahim Khemis and Emily Nakalema.
The Weekly Observer, a weekly Ugandan newspaper, has also reported the disappearances – claiming to have spoken to officials at Uganda Bombers, the country's national boxing team.
It wouldn't be the first time members of Team Uganda have disappeared, with at least six athletes refusing to return after the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018.
Two Ugandan rugby sevens players, Benon Kizza and Philip Pariyo, also went missing after Glasgow 2014.
They later claimed asylum and moved to Cardiff and played for a local rugby team.
It also isn’t the first time a Pakistani boxer has gone missing on an overseas trip. Last year, boxer Zohaib also went missing during a trip to Italy according to The Daily Pakistan.
When asked if the Ugandan reports are true, both the Home Office and the Scottish Government didn't deny the reports.
The Home Office have been re-approached for comment on the Pakistani reports.
