Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terror attacks on its security officials over the past few months as the country struggles to fight back the Pakistan Taliban, Islamic State and other terror outfits that are slowly expanding their foothold in areas bordering Afghanistan.
3/10 - 10 policemen killed in suicide bomb
On March 6, 2023, a suicide bomber riding on a motorcycle rammed into a police truck in Pakistan\'s restive southwest, killing at least 10 policemen and wounding 12 officers in one of the deadliest attacks on security forces in recent months.
4/10 - Baluch separatists likely behind attack
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, which took place on a bridge in the district of Sibi in Baluchistan province, but Baluch separatists and local militants have been blamed for previous such attacks.
5/10 - Massive blast
Mahmood Notenzai, a local police chief, said the officers were on a routine patrol when the attack happened, initially killing nine. The force of the blast overturned the truck, which caused additional injuries, he said. Trucks often transport troops in Pakistan.
6/10 - Militants storm police station
On February 17, militants stormed the heavily guarded Karachi Police Office. The attack resulted in at least four deaths, including two policemen, two rangers, and one civilian, with 14 others injured.
7/10 - TTP claims responsibility
The Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack. The siege was brought to an end on the same day, and three militants responsible for the attack were killed by the police.
8/10 - Terrorists attack mosque in Peshawar
On January 30, a suicide bomb killed 101 people at a mosque located inside a high-security compound that includes the headquarters of the provincial police force and a counterterrorism department.
9/10 - 300-400 police officers targeted
At the time of the bombing, between 300 and 400 police officers were offering their Zuhr prayers.
10/10 - Attacker wore police uniform
The attacker was wearing a police uniform and arrived on a motorcycle, managed to pass multiple police barricades undetected. He detonated a suicide vest while standing in the first row of those praying, causing a powerful blast that collapsed the mosque\'s roof.
