Pakistan's 18-year-old cricketer Ayesha Naseem announces retirement due to religious reasons

NEW DELHI: Pakistan's talented young cricketer Ayesha Naseem has made the decision to retire from all forms of cricket at the age of 18.

According to reports in the Pakistani media, Ayesha took this step in order to align her life with the principles of Islam.

“I’m leaving cricket and want to live my life according to Islam,” Naseem reportedly told PCB.

But the PCB is yet to confirm the news.

Ayesha represented Pakistan in 30 T20Is and 4 ODIs and scored 369 and 33 runs, respectively.

Renowned for her hard-hitting batting and ability to send the ball soaring over the boundary with long sixes, Ayesha once earned praise from Pakistan legend Wasim Akram.

In January 2023, the 18-year-old cricketer displayed her explosive skills during a match against Australia, where she hit a quick-fire 24 runs off just 20 balls. Her impressive innings included three sixes and a boundary.

Taking to Twitter, Akram lauded the young sensation and described her as a "serious talent."

The 18-year-old's sudden retirement has sent shockwaves in Pakistan's women cricketing fraternity.
