Paisley thug smashed shop window then verbally abused partner in dinner row

A Paisley thug has been warned by a sheriff that if he doesn’t start saving money to pay off the £3,000 worth of damage he caused at a takeaway shop window he will be in “big, big trouble”.

Jason Boyce smashed a window at Mr Kebab in the town’s Causeyside Street in October last year. The 26-year-old also shouted and swore at staff before assaulting a man who worked there.

Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday heard: “Boyce attended Mr Kebab on October 17, and had a dispute with a staff member regarding payment. Boyce was asked to leave and he became aggressive.

“He was again asked to leave and once he left the shop, he became aggressive throwing his arms in the air and attempted to gain entry back into the takeaway.

“Boyce then began to punch the glass door panel to get back in and began pulling the door open. He was shouting and showing aggression that the shop manager was forced to secure the door.

“Boyce continued to attempt to gain entry and then punched staff member Sukhwinder Singh and then, with another juvenile, they kicked the windows of the shop causing them to smash. Damage noted by police was £3,000.

“The accused continued to be aggressive and police were contacted. He was cautioned and charged and made no reply.”

The court also heard how the brute then verbally abused his ex-partner four months later, calling her a “stupid b***h” after they had an argument over what she had made for dinner.

The fiscal depute explained: “On February 21 this year, Ms Milne was within an address in Morar Drive in Paisley on Facetime to a witness when the accused attended under the influence of alcohol.

“An argument began about a dinner Ms Milne had provided him. The argument escalated and he began shouting about a previous infidelity. He shouted and swore at Ms Milne stating, ‘You’re a rat’.

“And called her a ‘f*****g stupid b***h’ and stated, ‘you’re thick’ and stated, ‘you’re a c**t’. The witness then got a message from Ms Milne asking her to call police and she did so. Police attended and found Ms Milne distressed and upset. Boyce was arrested and held in custody.”

Defence agent Tony Boland explained Boyce had “agency work” lined up, stating he works as a chef.

Mr Boland also stated that since these offences, Boyce’s “drinking intake has reduced” and went on to ask if enquiries into the exact cost of damage could be carried out.

Sheriff Ward told Boyce: “You’ve caused considerable damage and you’re going to be paying for it.

“So, you’ll come back here in eight weeks and if you’ve not paid nothing you’ll be in big, big trouble.”

Boyce, of Morar Drive, had his bail order continued and will return to the town’s court for sentencing for both matters on August 17.
