Paisley schoolboy robbed at knifepoint after thug demands cash

A schoolboy has been robbed at knifepoint in Paisley.

The 15-year-old was approached by a man with a knife who demanded cash.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Friday in Oakridge Crescent, Ferguslie Park .

The suspect made off towards Blackstoun Road with a small quantity of cash.

Police said the robbery left the teenager shaken , but he was not injured.

The robber is described as around 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and gaunt appearance.

He was wearing a beanie hat, jacket and jogging bottoms, all black.

Police are carrying out door to door inquiries, checking CCTV and appealing for witnesses.

Detective Constable Kate Wason said: "This was a distressing incident for the young boy and it is vital that we find the person responsible.

"Given the time of evening this incident occurred, it is likely that there will have been people in the vicinity and I urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to please come forward.

"It may be that the suspect was in the area before committing the crime and he drew your attention, or if you saw someone running away from the area, any piece of information could prove vital."
